Abstract
Knee joint is one of the most susceptible joints to have ligamentous injuries. Its incidence to seems to be increasing year by year.
The authors reviewed 82 cases of ligamentous injuries in 71 patients from march 1985 to june 1990 who were treated in the orthopeadic department at Pusan Paik Hospital.
@ES The results are as follows
@EN 1. Peak incidence was in 3rd decade with male predominence.
2. Traffic accident was the most common cause of ligament injuries, which was 60 patients(80%)
3. Degree of distance was measured with stress radiogram and compared with normal and abnormal knee joints, the significance of ligament jnjurues was present in more than 10mm.
4. Types of treatment were direct repair, reconstruction and conservative treatment.
Better results were obtained in thou cases whose sungical repair have been performed within 3weeks after injung than those of delaged sungical repair.
The results of those cases of which surgical repair have been performed within 3 weeks after injury were better than those cases of delaved surgical repair.
The aim of surgical approach is to restore the ligaments to their previous anatomical position and tension. The patient's goals, motivation, associated injuries and severity of injury are critical factor.
